Going to the sauna is an excellent way of caring for your body and mind. Everyone will find something to suit them among Elamus Spa’s rituals – those who love a more meditative sauna journey, those who love strong steam, and also those who would rather do beauty treatments in the sauna.
The more meditative rituals are the aroma ritual and the sound ritual. Both take place in a lower-temperature sauna and also suit those who do not want a very hot sauna. In a low-temperature sauna it is easy to close your eyes, sense different aromas and enjoy the alternation of hot and cold that the sauna master creates during the aroma ritual with a fan and a spray.
The aromas help take you far from your thoughts and relax both mentally and physically, so that those 10 minutes feel like a fulfilling rest.

The sauna master brings an aroma ball into the sauna, and the aromas rising from it can differ from ritual to ritual – having a relaxing, invigorating or cleansing effect, or creating a romantic atmosphere instead. When you close your eyes, mystical sounds carry you as if into another world.
A refreshing cool mist, meanwhile, conjures up an experience that stirs you awake for a moment.
During the sound ritual, various sounds are used to help take you on a journey from Tibet to Scandinavia, through Estonian forests and across the stormy Baltic Sea.
The whole ritual takes place in complete silence, and the only sounds that gently reach your ears are the instruments with which the sauna master supports the journey.
The journey begins with Tibetan bells in Tibet, koshi chimes carry your mind into Estonian forests, the wave drum surges like the stormy Baltic Sea at home, and the shamanic drum takes you to the Scandinavian Vikings beside the fire.

For those who love doing beauty rituals in the sauna, the salt and shea butter rituals are a good fit.
Throughout history, salt has had an important place in medicine. It is even said that salt symbolises life itself – after all, the balance of fluids and salts in the body is very important.
The ancient Egyptians already used salt against infections. In ancient Greece a mixture of milk and salt was drunk to improve health, and skin diseases, infections and even wrinkles were treated with it. To treat the airways, the vapours of salt water were inhaled.
The salt ritual combines the beneficial properties of salt both through inhalation and on the skin.

The sauna master brings a sea salt and honey mixture to the ritual, which exfoliates and heals the skin. The gentle sauna, meanwhile, gives off pleasant steam containing sea salt. When inhaled, the salt has a good effect on the airways and a calming effect on the whole body.
The shea butter ritual, on the other hand, is the ultimate beauty ritual, containing a combination of the magic of the shea tree growing in Central Africa and the mysticism of Japan, the land of the rising sun. Shea butter is said to have been one of the components of Cleopatra’s daily beauty routine, because it contains fatty acids beneficial to the skin, vitamins A, E and F, and is an effective moisturiser. There is a reason shea butter is called the gold of the sauna.
The ritual takes place under the sauna master’s guidance, so that applying shea butter to the body lets you experience the best properties of the shea tree.

The steam ritual is intended for true sauna gourmets and is certainly not for everyone. The step-by-step increase in heat and, as the cherry on the cake, the pleasant final steam are a fair test even for the hardiest bathers.
Whisking and ice-cold water in the middle of the ritual make it a true sauna experience.
In the bucket you will find pleasant whisks with which to heal the spirit, and cold water and ice with which to refresh yourself. The steam water, meanwhile, holds pleasant aromas so that all the senses are invigorated.
The sauna master masterfully makes wind with a large fan or a towel, to get the most out of the steam sauna.
And what would steam be without a cold plunge? The final plunge comes either on the outdoor terrace or at the cold pool.

It is a true sauna experience to remember for a long time – now that was a sauna!
